Guide pint-sized creatures in an endearing expedition!

Meet Pikmin: small, plantlike creatures with distinct abilities that you can grow, pluck, guide, and overpower enemies with! Use your Pikmin’s miniature might (and a bit of strategy) to explore this mysterious planet in search of your crew—and treasure.

Lead your loyal and curious squad

To succeed, you’ll have to balance caring for the Pikmin with leading them into dangerous situations. Do your best out there!

Meet the Pikmin

A mysterious mix of plant and animal, these creatures are loyal, clever, and ready to follow your lead. Be sure to call forward the right ones for the job!

The Rescue Pup named Oatchi is strong enough to carry a squad of Pikmin and an Explorer on his back.

The Rescue Corps needs you!

Customize your own explorer and lead the charge each day to find your crew and fix the Rescue Corps ship, the S.S. Shepherd.

  • An Explorer, Oatchi, and a squad of Pikmin have discovered an unknown figure laying on the ground and wearing a space suit similar to the Explorer's own.

    Track down your crew—and others

Find and rescue your Rescue Corps crew and other castaways who find themselves in a bind.

  • An Explorer, Oatchi, and a squad of Pikmin explore a dark environment with low visibility.

    Explore caves

Strategize your way through multiple floors of puzzles and critters. Time seems to work differently when you’re exploring caves, so there’s no need to rush.

  • An Explorer commands individual Pikmin to carry resources back to the ship.

    Collect resources

Treasures are a great source of Sparklium, the mysterious element that powers the S.S. Shepherd. You can also collect raw materials that are handy for construction in the field, or build new equipment to make exploring more manageable!

  • An Explorer and Oatchi stand in the outdoor Rescue Command Post encampment, where they can talk to the castaways and fellow members of the Rescue Corps they've found.

    Rescue Command Post

Take your time to prepare for the day’s excursion! You can chat with Rescue Corps members and castaways, accept side missions, and build new equipment to assist you on your expedition. You can also choose to go on Night Expeditions from here.

Oatchi is a golden-furred Rescue Pup with orange spots and big blue eyes. He has a snout with no visible nose, only two legs, and a cute puff at the end of his tail.

Who’s a good Oatchi? Oh, yes you are!

Resident good boy and dependable partner Oatchi can help get the job done throughout your adventure. You can even train this Rescue Pup to become more helpful!

With the Pikmin and a powerful pup at your side, no challenge is too big!

Tricks of the trade

Every in-game day brings different adventures, but there’s only so much you can do before you must return to the safety of your ship at night. Remember: If you can’t get everything done that you wanted, there’s always tomorrow.

The Rewind Time menu includes details like a progress percentage, a list of discoveries, and number of Pikmin available at the time. The current state and a previous state are shown side by side for easy comparison.

Rewind and retry

Something go sideways? No worries! Give yourself a do-over with the new Rewind Time feature and try a different approach.

An Explorer points to a new landing spot for their ship. Eligible landing spots are surrounded by shiny pink stones in the ground.

Bring your ship to you

There are multiple landing spots for your personal ship, the S.S. Beagle, in each of the expansive areas you can explore. Once you find a spot, you can freely land there. Helpful for cutting down time going to and from your ship!

Stay safe at night

When alone, Pikmin are easy prey at night. Keep them safe by returning them to your ship before it gets dark. If you can’t make it back in time, simply whistle the Pikmin in the field to your side—if they’re with you, they’re protected!

Dandori Challenges

“Dandori” is a practice centered around planning things out in advance and working efficiently. (You can even put good dandori to work for you in your daily life!)

In your expedition, you’ll come across Dandori Battles and Challenges. Use your time wisely and efficiently to collect the most items before time runs out!

Bring a friend

Two players on the same system* can work together or battle it out.

Dandori Battle

Take on—or team up with—a second player to collect the most items before time runs out. Who will reign supreme?

One player controls the Explorer while the other directs their on-screen pointer at an obstacle and chooses between items to use.

Co-Op Mode

Get help from a second player in the Story mode! Using an on-screen pointer, your co-op buddy can throw pebbles at enemies to stun them and unleash helpful items in your inventory.
